A Go-To Spot: The Daily Creative Food Co. (Omni, Breakfast, Sandwiches, Salads)

For those of you who live, work, or find yourself spending time in the Omni/Midtown area a place to know is The Daily on Biscayne Blvd between 19th St. and 20th Terrace. The Daily serves breakfast (till 11 during the week and 1 on the weekends), sandwiches and salads, and now serves dinner (until 9 PM). The highlights are their breakfasts, sandwiches, salads, and fries of the day! It’s a great go-to spot to have for mainly breakfast on the weekends and lunch or a break during the week.

One warning to heed: the menu is a bit out of control. It’s on giant signs above the counter and it can be quite overwhelming for first-timers. It’s not just that there are breakfast, salad, sandwich, sides, and drinks sections, but that there are tons of options for each. At The Daily you order up at the counter, are given a number, and then the food is brought to you at your table (outdoor and inside seating) so it can be a great place to go for something reasonably quick or for less of a hassle.

I mostly go to The Daily for breakfast on the weekends. I usually switch off between the omelet, the New York breakfast, Cowboy Up! scramble, and the Cuban pork hash. There are a variety of specialty omelets like the Miami Heat omelet (pepperjack, chorizo, jalapenos), but you also can make you own from a list of ingredients, which I do quite a bit. The omelets are pretty large and I rarely finish them, so come hungry, or know you’ll be bring home leftovers like I usually do. When I’m feeling like something smaller or with less egg I do the New York breakfast that is scrambled eggs and homefries. My favorite scramble is the Cowboy Up! (with sausage, cheese, peppers), but there are tons of options for the scrambles and omelets (I just happen to be a picky eater about foods, especially veggies, mixing). I also have gotten the Cuban pork hash, which comes with two sunny side up eggs on top and is a nice change of pace when I find myself going to The Daily more often than I should. Most of the breakfasts come with homefries on the side. For gluten-eaters there also a variety of breakfast sandwiches, wraps, and pancakes.

Besides my friends who live close and do breakfast on the weekends there I’d say that most of my friends go to The Daily during the week for sandwiches and rave about them. Obviously I can’t personally comment on the sandwiches, but I have heard really good things and my roommate especially likes them. Some of his favorites are the Prime Time (roast beef, pepperjack, and crispy onion strings), the Philly cheesesteak, and a lot of their paninis. I don’t go super often besides breakfast but when I do I get one of their custom or specialty salads (all which are large and really good) and I also ike their side of white rice and their fries (they have garlic and sweet potato fries, as well as a lot of really good fries of the day when I’ve been in there).

Dinner there isn’t much for gluten-frees, but I’ve had their Asian stir-fry that wasn’t bad and there looks to be some good options for gluten-eaters, like pork tacos (on flour tortillas). The dinner menu isn’t extensive but it could be a good stop if you want something lighter, quicker, or want a sandwich for dinner.

Definitely keep The Daily in mind as a go-to spot when you’re in the area!

Custom Salad (salami, cheese, iceberg lettuce)

Custom omelet (chorizo- usually get it with cream cheese as well) and homefries on the side
