Growing up my dad and I had two big traditions together- the Portland Auto Show and the Street of Dreams. When I went to college we missed the auto show (since it was in late January), but we still were able to do the Street of Dreams when I was back home during the summer. Unfortunately that changed when I moved to Miami and wasn’t usually around in August. This year however with a friend’s wedding in January and another friend’s wedding in August I was going to be back for both and so for my Christmas present to my dad was trips to both.
The Street of Dreams is an annual event where builders build luxury show homes and display the latest trends in building, design, and technology. People tour the homes to find ideas for their own homes, just for fun, and for a few select people to find their new home. The last few years due to the economy the show had less homes that were less elaborate (since some houses from earlier shows had trouble selling), but this year’s show looked like builders were more optimistic. This year’s show was in West Linn out off Stafford so it’s semi-rural with little suburban subdivisions surrounded by farms and open space (for now at least).
I really liked this year’s show and there were a number of houses that were close to being my best of show, while a lot of the others one had cool rooms or aspects to them. Check out the pics below!
